North Georgia Mountains-140 Miles-Elevation Changes
TheSuchesLoop.com motorcycle ride is an extended larger loop than the TheGeorgiaDragon.com. Some of theSuchesLoop.com motorcycle run highlights are riding through and nearby the following: Vogel State Park, Blood Mountain, Dahlonega, Etowah River Falls, Dawsonville, Blue Ridge, and Morganton just to name a few.
TheSuchesLoop.com is packed with s-curves, blind corners, steep elevation changes, twisties and magnificent scenery and is one of the best motorcycle roads in Georgia right smack in the middle of the impressive Chattahoochee National Forest and Blue Ridge Mountains. Experienced motorcycle riders will find the road challenging due to the elevation changes but suggest that new riders to the area and the ride take it slower to enjoy the spectacular mountain roller coaster of scenery.
The scenery is worth taking your time with rolling, lush valleys and thrilling switchbacks across ridges and roads such as Wolf Pen Gap, Route 19, Route 180, and Route 60. There are many great places to make a basecamp for riding in Northern Georgia.

0.3 mi – Easy – Summey Cove Trail is an easy trail which initially follows an old railroad grade. This section is always wet, so wear appropriate footgear. Within ¼ mile you will start hearing the roar of the falls. Shortly beyond the falls, the Courthouse Falls Trail will be a sharp turn to your left—in a wide, smooth, sweeping, right turn of the main trail; though there may be no signs or blazes visible, two natural stone steps at the top of the trail help distinguish it. Please do not leave the main trail until you see a distinct side trail and/or trail sign; shortcutting causes erosion problems. Courthouse Falls Trail is a narrow trail which never receives much sunlight, so all log bridges and wooden steps can be slippery. It takes you to the base of a spectacular 45-foot waterfall dropping into a large, deep pool in a picturesque cove. The mist from the falls keeps this area cool, even in the middle of the summer, so it is delightful on a hot day. If you are a rockhound, you will be rewarded with small garnets that are common in the creek.

The scenic mountain backdrop provides a mesmerizing setting for you to work on your game, play a virtual round of golf on your favorite course, and enjoy some quality time with friends and family.

We came to Lake Toxaway on vacation in October of 2000. Chris is originally from Pennsylvania (via Florida for 34 yrs. so he is now a Halfback!) and Robin is a native Floridian (now a FL Escapee!!). We drove up at night in the fog and were just happy to make it on all those curvy roads. When we woke up the next morning (we were staying at a friend’s home on the lake) and saw all the gorgeous color on Toxaway Mountain… we were hooked!! The earliest we could move up was 2005 and that is exactly what we did and have not looked back since.
We absolutely love the beauty of this area and the people. Chris went into real estate and we did property management for quite a few years. In 2017 we found out that the market and the restaurant in Lake Toxaway were not going to be reopening so we decided to take a leap of faith and opened the Historic Toxaway Market. We wanted the market to be different in that we carry as much organic, non-GMO, Gluten Free type food as we can. We realized the need for this type of business after living here for years so with the help of our wine distributors and many friends and family, we opened the market on July 1, 2017. It has been a huge learning experience but a great community to make it a success.
In December of 2019 we found out the store across the road from us was closing. We have been listening to our customers wants over the years and kept hearing “coffee” and “ice cream” so on June 29, 2020, we opened the Historic Toxaway Market Mountain Café…. (Coffee Shop and Ice Cream Parlor) in that location. Endeavoring to bring back business to this community, we feel that this expansion has been a welcome addition to the Toxaway presence and stature in the county!! We renamed the Cafe in June of 2023 to separate it from the Market (better for bookkeeping)….new name is Sweetwater Perk & Creamery!!
We look forward to serving this community for many years to come… see you soon😊
